Community Outreach and Social Change

I believed community outreach is a form of social change for health sustainability in many parts of the developing world. Public health education supports the values held within the public health sector. For example, according to World Health Organization, education is another social factor (i.e. contributive factor) of health sustainability in Philippines, and perhaps the most central basic determinant of health at both individual and community levels. As a public health issue in Philippines, limited knowledge in women’s health brings about their inability to make better decision in contraceptive measures. York (2012) described correlative issue of contraceptive with its cultural awareness in Philippines. According to York (2012), in a country that acquired one of the highest birthrates in South East Asia, government proposal to provide free contraceptive measures may sound keen, but knocks up against culture and religious beliefs. The codes can be categorized as social change, contraceptive measures, community health awareness, limited education and the provision of cultural awareness. Therefore, the theme of this exemplary approach is the value of education, as an impact on social change of Philippines. Furthermore, greater emphasis can be placed on social change determinants of exploring options for controlling unnecessary birthrates, while protecting the rights of Filipinos.
